To prepare for the RG146 Challenge Tests, Kaplan Professional has made available Practice Challenge Tests that represent the type of questions advisers will be required to answer in the actual Challenge Test.

It is important to note that this assessment method can only be used by individuals with at least five years' relevant industry experience out of the past eight. Those who do not meet this experience criterion must demonstrate their competency by undertaking approved training courses.
Assessment procedure is included on the ASIC Register of Compliant Training as meeting the requirements of RG146. The Assessment consists of a series of tests covering each of the RG146 main knowledge areas. The tests are designed to identify 'gaps' in a candidate's knowledge.
The tests are split into modules, each of which will consist of several multiple-choice questions. Two minutes will be allowed per question. Advisers will need to achieve the stipulated number of correct answers in each module to achieve competency. In addition, if personal advice is given, a skills assessment will be required.
Please note the RG146 superannuation exam has 9 questions per module. Advisers will need to achieve 7 correct answers or above in each module to achieve competency. This applies to any new enrolment from June 2006 onwards into the RG146 superannuation assessment.
Candidates who achieve 'a not yet competent' result in any of the modules must purchase additional 'gap-training' materials to study before arranging to re-sit the modules. Candidates only need to re-sit the modules if they achieved fewer than six correct answers. They do not have to re-sit the whole test. Successful candidates receive a Certificate of Competency in the tested knowledge area.
