Kaplan — building futures since 1938
Over the last 70 years, Kaplan has been helping millions of individuals from all
over the world achieve their educational and career goals. The business was originally
founded in 1938 by Stanley H. Kaplan, when he began tutoring students in the basement
of his parents’ Brooklyn home in New York. Kaplan was acquired by The Washington
Post Company in 1984 and is today the company’s largest and fastest growing
division.
